One Club, One Mission, One Family
Creation
Lubbock Arsenal F.C. formed through the trial and error of various attempts to unite the many independent clubs in Lubbock, Texas. Finally, in June of 2008 Lubbock Arsenal formed through the merger of Cruz Azul Soccer Club 94’ Girls and 96’ Girls and Lubbock Arsenal Soccer Club 97’ Boys.
The coaches, parents, and players of these three teams were painfully aware of the lack of emphasis placed on the development of young soccer talent and took the courageous decision to create a new type of soccer club. The focus to be solely the development of member players within the club and helping them achieve their goals of becoming High School and College Athletes.
The parents and coaches also realized the importance of parent opinion and leadership at every level of the club. Without sacrificing coaching authority on the field, parent’s sought active positions as volunteers and are committed to helping the coaches do what they do best…COACH!
With a new philosophy in place, and the parent’s support, other teams and coaches began to take notice. It did not take long for coaches to begin to sign up and ask for an opportunity to contribute to the “revolution” in Lubbock. Sean Pitman, Sandra Minton, Billy Herrera, Adam Edgar, Steven Morales, Roger Reyna, Roger Biekman, and Bin Lincon joined Sergio Tristan and Angel Cuevas on the coaching staff and helped bring fresh ideas to the table.
The landscape is now set for you to write the next chapter of our club…
The revolution officially has begun! Lubbock soccer will never be the same…join today!
Shield History
Football club “shields” have a special meaning within the world of professional soccer. The shields are more then advertising logos and help players gain inspiration in the most dire of circumstances through the historical significance associated within the shield.
Arsenal F.C. is no different! Our shield contains special meaning which tie the lineage of our club to our founding clubs.
Name – Arsenal F.C. was picked NOT by parents or coaches. No, the name itself shows our commitment to our youth players who were solely responsible for the naming of this club. The teams of both Cruz Azul and LSC 97’ narrowed a list of 20 potential names down to 4 of which Arsenal F.C. eventually was voted on as the new club name.
Colors – The colors of our club are a direct representation of the English Premier League side Arsenal F.C’s philosophy we try to adhere and emulate. EPL Arsenal’s reputation as the world’s foremost developer of youth talent is unmatched and our goal to develop the best youth talent in Lubbock is represented by our choice in the color Maroon, the color of EPL Arsenal’s uniform kit. Gold signifies our commitment to excellence.
Soccer Balls – The outlying soccer balls on the left and right side of the shield represent the two clubs that combined to create Arsenal F.C. The golden ball in the middle signifies the union created when both clubs merged into one.
Crossed Rifles – Our goal to revolutionize the landscape of Lubbock Soccer requires us to pay homage to our Texan and American history of independence. As our forefather’s struggles, and their desire to free themselves of tyranny, forced them to pick up a rifle and stand side by side in defiance of the status quo we too stand symbolically against the status quo in Lubbock youth competitive soccer. Our parents and coaches will no longer accept special interests tainting and stunting the growth of our young players. Our club will challenge the status quo and continue the fight until the player comes first and foremost!
The Shield – The circular design of the shield vastly differs from most shields currently in use in the soccer community. While most shields are designed in the manner of the medieval period Arsenal F.C. incorporates the shield preferred by Greek city-state armies from ancient time. Our desire to pay homage to the Greeks rests in our goal to achieve what they achieved in their time; a new outlook on life, specifically for us that would be soccer.
