LAFC '97 Boys, previous WTPL Champions and Plano Labor Day Invitational Champions are looking to add two more U13 players (birth between 1 Aug. 1996 - 31 July 1997) to their roster. LAFC 97 Boys Win Plano Tournament - updated 9 Sept. 2009

The LAFC 97B's won the Plano Invitational Labor Day Tournament with a resounding 31 goals for, and only 3 against. Fueled by Abebe Hunt's 11 goals and Alex Loredo's impenetrable defense, the 97B's went 5-0 over the three day tournament and beat Classic League opponent, FC Barcelona, soundly 3-1 in the 70 minute finals match. Each player contributed to the strong output by the entire team with midfielders Peyton Elliott, Freddie Reyna, Trae Exum and Jarod Cloud making the most of the central part of the field. The defense (Angel Gutierrez, Zack Smith, Alex Loredo, and Thomas Herrera) remained impenetrable with all three goals against coming from either set plays or a penalty kick. Wingers Zachary Appleton and Eric Escobar contributed goals and superb combo play with forwards Abebe Hunt, Jacob Sanchez and Adam Beikmann. Superb goal keeping was led by Zachary Appleton, Colt Cagle and Adam Beikmann. New player, Elijah Arriaga, rounded out the defense and a very solid performance by the 97B's. LAFC "Gunners '97B's" Take 2nd in the Quickfoot National Championship Tournament - updated 10 August 2009

The LAFC 97B's spin off team, LAFC Gunners 97, including (l-r above) Abebe Hunt, Alex Loredo, Zack Smith, Freddie Reyna, Peyton Elliott, Zachary Appleton, and Trae Exum took 2nd Place in the Quickfoot Small-Sided National Championship Tournament in Forney, TX. The Gunners played 7 matches in 24 hours and made it to the Championship match where they lost narrowly, 2-1. Congrats Gunners!
'97's Start Two-A-Days -updated 8 August 09
97's begin two-a-days this tuesdya, 11 August, 10 AM - 12 PM at Mae Simmons and 6-8 PM Wheelock. Bring running shoes as well as cleats, shin guards, and the usual training gear. Bring plenty of water.
LAFC Gunners '97 4v4 Take 2nd at Quickfoot -updated 15 June 09LAFC Gunners '97B played scrappy soccer in the mud pits of Berl Huffman on 20 June and took 2nd place in the Quickfoot Regional Qualifier 4v4 Tournament. The Championship match was played against the Amarillo Lightning and could have gone either way. In the end, the Lightning pulled out one goal ending the match at 1-0. But, the Gunners have qualified for the National Championship and will head to Arlington, TX, in August! Way to go guys! '97B's Make Semi-Finals at Rocky Mountain Cup - updated 15 June 09
LAFC '97B played 'up' in the U13 age bracket in the Rocky Mountain Cup during 12-14 June in Boulder, CO. The team played intense and high-level soccer for three solid matches.

'97B's & State Cup 2009 - updated 15 May 09
After winning the WTPL U12 B bracket during the Fall 2009 season, the the '97B's earned an automatic bid into the Texas State Cup over the 2/3 and 7/8 May weekends. Despite the rainouts and delays, the boys played very well in their first ever state cup appearance against D1 teams from North Texas.

'97 Boys "Enjoy" Two-A-Days at the Beach

In preparation for the upcoming Fall season, the 97 Boys have been running two-a-days at TTU and at Mae Simmons Park, in addition to the nightly sessions at Wheelock. The boys have been enjoing tire pulls, 2 mile hill runs, hill repeats and beach soccer.
